1500 burpees complete. Only 85 days to go! I'm worried that I may have messed up my shoulder, but I'm going to push through until it stops working... I hope it's just a weak shoulder getting stronger!

A friend of mine has been doing the #100burpeesfor100days challenge for about 45 days and he inspired me to do the same. It's really as simple as it sounds: You do 100 burpees every day. I just finished day 3, so I'm 300 in. The first few days left me feeling like I was dying, but today felt pretty good.

I've been on my butt for far too long, but now I'm taking active measures to start getting back down to a healthy weight again.

I'm 5' 8 1/2" tall and I started at 220 lbs. Quick calculations show I'm way too heavy at nearly 33 BMI. (Yes, I know BMI is not the best measurement, but it's good enough for what I need.) My goal is to approach 165 lbs - that would put me below 25 BMI - but I'll be satisfied with 180 if it's a toned and more muscular body shape.

When I start dropping enough weight, I'll start tracking by body fat % (which I just estimated at 35.4% - ewww), but I'm still way too far away from my goal to start worrying about body composition numbers. Today my goal is to drop weight and add muscle and then figure out later how to get the numbers aligned.

Wish me luck and please hold me accountable! smiley11.gifsmiley13.gif

    • Hearthstone. AKA Damn you Gus...

      CiQuat Woop woop

After all the podcasts where Gus talked about Hearthstone, I finally decided to try it... Bad idea.

Not that it's a bad game. Actually, it's the opposite: It's really good! But that's also the problem. Since the game is fun and the matches are relatively short, it's easy to fall into the trap of "just one more" until you chain enough of the "one more"s until late into the night.

I never played Magic but I was always interested when watching others play - I just didn't have the money for that kind of game. That's where Hearthstone "fixed" that problem by making the game free. That left me with no excuse to not try it and to get sucked in.

It's a good game and the early progression is pretty well paced as you unlock more of the basic cards for each of the nine classes. Sure, you can buy card packs to enhance your deck, but the game doesn't punish you too hard for sticking to the free-to-play system and earning your extra card packs.

And they didn't cheapen the experience by using the standard "you're out of energy - buy more!" trick of most free-to-play games. They're actually quite content to let you play through the night unimpeded. I suspect that's less about being "nice" and more about giving you every opportunity to want to buy more cards. smiley0.gif

All in all, I'm glad I picked it up. I've probably logged about 15 hours or so playing on the couch at night while watching TV with my wife (when I wasn't working instead) and I'll definitely keep playing as long as they keep the game fun. Hook up with me on Battle.net (my name there is PizzaBrandon) if you play and we can play some matches!

I think achieving that balance is the hardest thing in life these days. While your ministry is s very important to you andyour faith, building your business is important for your family's future, and then you don't want to miss out on watching your little family as Melanie continues to grow and change.

I think that if you always put God first, he will take care of the rest of it. That is my belief anyway - for what it's worth.

As for me - well, life is okay. The job is stressful and I'm counting the years (not that many left) to retirement. It's been way to long since I've seen my kid and his little family, but we'll see them in May. I do treasure those telephone and AIM conversations!

      Take care!

That's the way it goes. All that build up (for the parents, mostly at her age), and then it's just too much for the kids. Next year will be much better.

      Luke 2:1-20

And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.â€Â
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
“ Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!â€Â

So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.†And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely[d] known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

Good luck with all of your ministries. I am trying to talk my ladies into actively supporting a faith based free rehab facility here for women. I would love to start a mentoring program with cooking classes, Bible studies, etc. They are all older so are somewhat reluctant to commit, which I totally understand. But they have so much life experience to share!

Am leaving the church decision in God's hands for now.

I've been thinking of moving to a large Methodist Church here, that my friend attends. I've never attended a large church before though. It's always been nice to go to a small church where I know everyone.

I also hate to leave where I've gone off and on since I was a kid. It would feel like desertion.

How old is she now? My son was a great eater. He'd fall asleep while I was spoon feeding him. I just had to be carful not to quit shoveling that food in or he'd wake up and cry. Now that he's grown, he's picky.
