I made this same post on the comment section to the most recent blog post by Burnie.
My issue with RT: ES was that it didn't feel like a show that was supposed to be on the Internet. It felt like a TV network was trying to appeal to a younger audience and, in my opinion, failing.
I love Colton, I think that he is a phenomenal comedian and has/will do great things in the world of comedy. I love Rooster Teeth, I've been a fan for more than half of my life and have supported and watched literally everything Yall have made except for Social Disorder(I hate cringe comedy). I love what Colton has done with RT so far and have high hopes that Lazer Team will be a great film because he is in it.
All of that being said though, RT: ES was just not good. Occasionally one of the skits would made me laugh out loud, the Destiny skit in particular really hit home for me, but for the most part the skits and the interviews were just not funny or really entertaining. I don't think this is anyone's fault in particular, this brand of media is just not suited to an Internet audience in my opinion.
And the band's were never really all that good. They seemed to always be out of key, and they never had a big part in the show to really play their music. Then again, I'm not really a fan of indie music so I might be biased; I know that it is not realistic to expect to see big acts like the Foo Fighters or the Rolling Stones. The band's just seemed out of place to me.
I'm glad that you guys are pausing the show for a few weeks. I think that RT: ES could be a hit if it was just reworked a bit. Also please keep in mind that most of the Internet doesn't have the attention span/the desire to watch a 10+ minute interview with some random people.
