Let's talk about the upcoming Kickstarter that RT are doing for their movie!
If you missed this, it's very understandable since nothing's been announced officially, but over the last few podcasts Burnie's been drip-feeding information that, when put together, leads to the following: Rooster Teeth are making a live-action sci-fi comedy movie, shot in Austin, and funded by a Kickstarter campaign.
With regards to the movie: this is a huge step for RT and something that I'm personally really excited for; it's the sort of thing that I think we're going to be hearing a lot about over the next couple years as they produce it, and it could be the kind of thing that lets the company grow to be even bigger than they are now; maybe even, dare I say it, mainstream? *gasp* (That would actually be a really exciting thing of which I am fully in favour)
And as for the Kickstarter, let's just say that I am very ready to throw as much money as I can at them. I'll be excited to see what kind of rewards they offer, and considering the huge fanbase that they have I think it could be the kind of thing to break some crowd-funding records.
What are your thoughts on this dramatic new step for Rooster Teeth?
EDIT: Here are the sources, if you're interested: Podcast #272 (in the last part with Kumail N. and Freddie W.) and Patch #54 (brief mention halfway through of the Kickstarter), as well as a couple of other places that currently escape me.
